Pressies from Suzuki

A few weeks ago I played Pay it Forward with Suzuki. Last April 18, mom got a card from the Post Office telling her to pick up a package. My mom's schedule got CRAZY this past weeks that she only got it on Tuesday last week and was able to tell you guys about it today. Tsk,tsk, tsk...I keep telling her if this continues, I might just hire a secretary who can update my blog more often.

Anyway, this is the package!

Look at it! Sooo many toys, so little time!

There's this sausage link toy with funny faces. I now use it to play tag of war with my hoomans.

There's a cool ball in Suzi's favorite color - purple! I cannot quite comprehend how to play with it yet. I kept thinking its probably like my Kong and I can get the treat by gnawing and licking it. Mom teaches me to roll it around to get the treats inside.

There is also the rope toy in camouflage colors. It's an instant favorite!

See...I could not even wait for mom to remove the tag before I played with it.

I also received message from Suzi with her picture. Very pretty Suzuki! The picture is now displayed on our fridge and our visitors are amazed that I have a friend who lives in Australia!

But wait! There's more....

Flashing dog ID which is very practical since we usually take our walks in the evening...

and a dog tag which I now proudly wear. My mom refers to it as my bling bling.
When I play with my toys, I like them scattered around me,

so that I can easily switch from one toy to another.

I'm too tired from playing but I still want my toys around me. I guess I'll just sleep with it.

Charlie's favorite toy

This is my favorite toy, a leopard with pink spots. I love grooming it and always have it with me when I sleep.

My hoomans noticed that I am very fond of this stuffie. They would always pretend to snatch it away. Sometimes they can be so mean! But, I would not let them have it. See, these are my best "It's mine!" look. I just put on that face and they would leave me alone.

Note from Charlie's mom: The stuff toy is dirty and torn in some places, I tried so many times to throw it away but Charlie would always catch me and give that "Please don't throw it away mommy" look.

Here are my random facts:

1. I love my stuffed toys. I have a box full of toys, but, when mom asks me to pick one, I'll choose a stuffie.

2. I would always ask for ice cubes from my mom whenever she opens the refrigerator. I just enjoy licking ice cubes.

3. Like Isis, I hate it when someone touches my nails. I always growl at them as warning to keep their hands off. However, I think the vet has amazing powers over me because I let her do whatever she wants with my nails.

4. I find it fascinating to watch my hoomans as they brush their teeth.

5. I hate the words “Ligo na” (bath time) and would cower in the corner or run away and hide from my mom. But, I would immediately return, tail wagging when mom says “Labas tayo” (Let’s go outside).

An open letter to my mom

You went away early this morning. You said you were too tense to even linger at home and wait for the results. I know you have been too nervous during this past days and weeks in anticipation of this fateful day. You talked to me before leaving, asking me if I would still love you even if you fail the exam. I hope you understood my reassurance because I would never judge you and will continue to love you no matter what. I gave you doggy kisses because I was trying to ease your anxiety. I did not know if that helped; a dog could only do so much.

Of course, you always told me that I played a very big role during the past year. During the times when your nerves would get the best of you and the day would be a horrible one, I was there to comfort you. When you need a hug, I would stay still so that you can give me a tight one. I would try to absorb all the negative feelings and send good vibes. There were times when you cried because you felt overwhelmed by the gargantuan task that you have to face, I would faithfully go to you and lick your tears away. You always laughed at that but, at the same time, would be reminded that whatever outcome this challenge will bring, you have a friend who would stand by you.

Today, I patiently waited for you to come back while other members of the human family were hovering over the computer and the television, waiting for the news, any news. They were designated to tell you about the outcome- good or bad.

Finally, at around 8:30 p.m., they were informed that the list was already out. They hurriedly checked the site to find your name. They were nervous, yet excited, to know about the results of the exam. At last, they saw your name; the room was filled with cheers and laughter. One immediately got the phone and dialed your number to inform you that you are finally a lawyer. It was hard to hear everything that they were saying amid the shouting, the cheerful banter and the tears.

After four tedious years in law school, months of studying for the exam and waiting for the result, it is now over. Your life, on limbo for the past months, can now continue. Congratulations mommy!!! You dreamt of this day years ago. After a lot of hard work and perseverance, your dreams finally came true.
