I feel for my brothers and sisters - thousands of stray dogs and cats wandering the Metro. I hope they were able to find a higher and safer place during the typhoon.
During disasters, animals usually take the backseat in terms of rescue. Some may have to leave behind their pets because they have no choice - there is no space left on the rescue boat or they could not bring them to the evacuation center; Sadly, others may have done so because they just do not care.
Kudos to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) for rescuing animals left behind due to the Typhoon Ondoy. PAWS also opened its Rehabilitation Center for temporary shelter of animal evacuees. My Mom promised we would visit the animal shelter this weekend to donate some basic stuff that animals need.
My mom found these other pictures of animals circulating on the net. She would give acknowledgement to owners of the pictures but she's not sure who owns them. Please, send her a bark if these are your pictures so she can provide the proper credit for it.

These pictures break my heart and my mom is so sad for those poor dawgs! Thank goodness for the rescue groups that do help the animals. I hope they will all be ok!!!

Charlie, we're so happy to know that you and Myrna are safe from the terrible flood. We feel so sad seeing those poor doggies, and worse because we could not do anything to help. We too are trapped in our village. We can just pray that God will have mercy and drive the typhoon away.

Hi Charlie - it's just heartbreaking to see sometimes. But stories about the people helping warm our hearts - the World can be a good place sometimes, even though it's harsh and cruel on the surface. Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.
It is all so sad. So much destruction and so many hurting. We will keep them all in our thoughts and prayers.

We were shocked and horrified to see that you are still under attack by nature...this time mudslides! We hope that lives--both human and pet--are spared and that the damage is quickly repaired.
